Running Over Alawite Corpses... "Observatory" Reveals New Details About Crimes in Banias
-
The continued documentation of brutal violations by armed groups confirms the absence of accountability, reinforcing an environment of violence and fueling the cycle of revenge in Syria

Activists from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed shocking details in a recorded video showing elements affiliated with the General Security committing acts of abuse against the corpses of two Alawite civilians on Zaki Al-Arsuzi Street in the Al-Qusour neighborhood of Banias city.
Information indicates that the two victims, identified as (A.A.) and (M.S.), were killed during the bloody events that took place in the Syrian coastal areas on March 7th, as part of horrific liquidation operations targeting civilians there.
According to the recording, the armed elements deliberately ran over the corpses of the dead using a "Toyota Prado" vehicle, in a scene embodying unprecedented brutality. One of the fighters appears expressing joy at the violation, using a clear celebratory tone that reflects complete disregard for the most basic humanitarian standards.
This crime represents another example of the bloody behavior of these groups, which use violence as a means to prove their control, without any consideration for human rights or ethical conventions. The targeting of victims based on their sectarian identity deepens the societal rift and makes the chances of reconciliation in Syria more distant and complex.
This incident recalls the repeated violations documented by human rights organizations, which prove that these groups do not differ in their practices from terrorist organizations, as they adopt brutal methods to spread terror and establish a climate of violence, in an attempt to consolidate their rule under the threat of weapons.
