European Parliamentary Delegation Visits the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria

On Monday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria welcomed a joint parliamentary delegation from Britain and several European countries. The visit aimed to assess the political and economic conditions in the region and enhance cooperation with the European Union.

During the meeting, co-chair of the Foreign Relations Office, Ilham Ahmed, presided over discussions regarding the current political developments in Syria, particularly the negotiations between the Autonomous Administration and the government in Damascus. The talks also covered the committees formed in this context, dialogues among the Kurds, and the Administration's stance on the anticipated constitutional declaration.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Relations Office, the delegation expressed interest in providing economic support to the Autonomous Administration, especially in areas affected by climate change that have significantly impacted the region in recent years. The delegation also noted its intention to convey the true situation in the area to the foreign ministries of EU member states, aiming to strengthen relations with the Autonomous Administration and bolster both political and economic support.

In another context, as part of the efforts of the Autonomous Administration to facilitate the return of displaced persons to their homes, a new group of families departed on Tuesday from the Al-Arysha displacement camp located south of Hassakeh, heading back to their original areas in Deir ez-Zor province. This group consists of 10 families, totaling 88 individuals, marking the third group to leave the camp since the beginning of this year as part of the voluntary return program established by the Administration since November 23 of last year. According to camp management officials, additional groups are scheduled to depart in the coming days.

Previously, around 150 families from Deir ez-Zor, approximately 1,000 individuals, had left the camp, while around 14,000 displaced persons still reside within it. Another group had departed on February 11, including 58 families with a total of 305 individuals, most of whom were from areas on the western bank of the Euphrates River.
