Revelation of Israeli-Turkish Talks in Azerbaijan

On Thursday, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Turkish-Syrian talks took place in Azerbaijan.
The office clarified that "under the supervision of Prime Minister Netanyahu, a political-security delegation led by Tsachi Hanegbi, head of the National Security Council, held a meeting yesterday evening with a similar Turkish delegation, which included prominent representatives from the Ministry of Defense and security agencies."
The statement added, "Israel expressed its gratitude to Azerbaijan and its President Ilham Aliyev for hosting these important talks."
The office confirmed that during the discussions, the interests of each party in the region were presented, and an agreement was reached to continue the dialogue with the aim of maintaining security stability.
In a related context, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on Wednesday that Turkey is conducting technical talks with Israel in order to reduce tensions in Syria when necessary. He explained, "We in Turkey do not intend to engage in conflict with any country in Syria, and we respect Syria's sovereignty, seeing ourselves in front of a new Syria."
It is noteworthy that the increasing Turkish influence in Syria has raised concerns in Israel, which has carried out airstrikes and ground incursions to push Syrian government forces away from its borders.
