Syria's Internal Security Forces Suspend Officers Involved in Assault on Civilians in Damascus

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced today, Sunday, that several military personnel have been referred to the judiciary after being implicated in an assault on a group of civilians in one of Damascus's neighborhoods, according to reports from the Syrian News Channel.

The ministry clarified that security forces are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the involved individuals, who have been subsequently detained and presented before the judiciary to ensure justice is served.

It emphasized that the rule of law is the foundation for handling all issues. No exceptions are made under any circumstances, or attack on citizens or public facilities will be met with firm legal actions.

In a related development, social media activists shared a video today showing armed individuals in military uniforms assaulting civilians at a nightclub in Damascus.

The incident sparked widespread anger, with many users denouncing the assault as a violation of citizens’ rights and a restriction on public freedoms. Others noted that the nightclub had previously received complaints from residents due to the presence of individuals disturbing visitors and damaging public and private property.

Details surrounding the incident remain under close observation, with varying opinions on its causes and aftermath. The Syrian Ministry of Interior is conducting investigations, and the public hopes that the findings will lead to fair accountability for all those involved in this assault.
