Revenge in Talkalakh... Security Member Confesses to Carrying Out Liquidation Operation in Homs
-
The increase in liquidation operations in various regions of Syria indicates the collapse of the justice system and the spread of a revenge culture, confirming the need to adopt a system that enhances

A citizen fell victim to a "liquidation" operation after being shot in the Ain al-Khadra neighborhood in Talkalakh city in western rural Homs. According to Syrian Observatory sources, two gunmen on a motorcycle directly fired at the "victim" citizen, causing him severe injuries which led to his death, while the identity of one of the attackers was identified.
One of them, a member of the General Security, confessed through a video recording obtained by the Syrian Observatory, to committing the crime against the deceased under the pretext that the latter had also committed violations against citizens.
With this incident, the number of victims of revenge and liquidation acts since the beginning of 2025 in various Syrian governorates has risen to 516 people, distributed as follows: A497 men, 12 women, and 7 children, distributed across governorates as follows:
In Damascus: 12 victims, all men, with no recorded cases related to sectarian affiliation. In Rural Damascus: 51 victims, including 50 men and one woman, with 4 cases recorded due to sectarian affiliation.
In Homs: 186 victims, distributed between 175 men, 8 women, and 3 children, of whom 69 cases were related to sectarian affiliation. The toll in Hama reached: 104 victims, including 102 men, one woman, and one child, with 39 cases recorded related to sectarian affiliation.
Latakia recorded: 39 victims, including 36 men, one woman, and two children, among them 22 cases related to sectarian affiliation. In Aleppo: 25 victims, all men, with no cases recorded on sectarian grounds.
Tartous witnessed: 58 victims, including 56 men, one woman, and one child, with 37 cases related to sectarian affiliation. Similarly, in Idlib: 13 victims, all men, with no cases recorded on sectarian grounds.
Sweida recorded: two victims, both men, one of them on the basis of sectarian affiliation. The toll in Daraa reached: 22 victims, all men. Finally, in Deir ez-Zor: 4 victims, all men.
These statistics reveal the continuation of the phenomenon of violence and liquidations in various Syrian regions, with a particular concentration in the governorates of Homs, Hama, and Tartous, where the proportion of crimes with a sectarian background is high.
Analysts believe that the continuation of liquidation and revenge operations reflects the absence of the rule of law and the weakness of judicial institutions, confirming the urgent need to adopt a system that ensures regions manage their security affairs more effectively.
The high numbers of victims of sectarian violence indicate the effects of the policies of discrimination and exclusion practiced by the previous regime headed by Bashar al-Assad, which entrenched societal divisions and deepened tensions between the components of Syrian society.
